Elected and appointed members of the Kingston Food Co-op Council have a unique opportunity and responsibility to represent the needs of our members and the broader community as we strengthen and grow our cooperative.  Our Council is responsible for ensuring the success and health of the cooperative, as well as its long term vitality. We ensure that the Co-op operates within our value system, seek member input on the goals and visions of the organization, and are accountable to the members about the Council’s activities, decisions and compliance with Council policies. 

All council members will have a robust onboarding experience and have ongoing learning opportunities to make sure that each Council member is as prepared as possible to lead the Co-op.

We are currently seeking members with experience in:

  • Finance

  • Business operations

  • Cooperative governance


Other valuable skills include:

  • Food access and distribution

  • Grocery retail

  • Entrepreneurship


Candidates should be rooted in the Kingston community and be local to the area for at least five years.

We strongly encourage historically underrepresented individuals to apply, including BIPOC, LGBTQ+ folks, bilingual Spanish and Q’eqchi speakers, and those with low incomes.
